IP – Intellectual Property Rights

IP is short for Intellectual Property; a common term for the product of human creativity. Much of it is ‎protected by intellectual property rights (IPR) and similar legal rights. ‎

Norrbom Vinding provides advice on all types of intellectual property rights, their object and effect. This ‎mainly includes:‎

  • Patents, supplementary protection certificates (SPC) for medicinal products and pesticides and ‎utility models
  • Copyrights and neighboring rights, including rights in databases and software
  • Design rights
  • Trademarks and brands

We also provide advice on legal rights that are closely associated with intellectual property rights. Often it ‎does not make much sense in practice to distinguish between such rights if you are in an IP-based business. ‎In this regard, our expertise includes providing advice on:‎

  • The prohibition against unfair or unjust marketing practices under the Danish Marketing Practices ‎Act
  • The legal protection of trade secrets, including know-how
  • Competition law aspects of IP

Our long and extensive experience in litigation and other types of dispute resolution – including preliminary ‎injunction proceedings – render us an apt choice for representation in matters relating to enforcement of ‎intellectual property rights and similar legal rights. We also have a special expertise in dealing with matters ‎between businesses and former or current employees, involving questions of whether an employee is ‎allowed to exploit the employer’s intellectual property or trade secrets – for instance in connection with ‎setting up a competing business.‎
