Our partners are among the pioneers who developed labour and employment law as a separate discipline for private practice lawyers in Denmark in the 1980s.
Turning back the clock to the early 1980s: the corporate sector is slowly beginning to see the importance of such concepts as employee motivation and job satisfaction, and the private sector is beginning to embrace the HR approach. At the same time, the Danish Labour Court Act is passed and public sector employers are now bound by the same rules in case of labour disputes as private sector employers.
At the law firm of Ny Vestergade 1, we become a core team that spots the potential of labour and employment law as a specialist field. And later on, our labour and employment law practice joins the merger that leads to Bech-Bruun & Trolle.
Another 10 years down the line, the pioneering spirit continues: Mariann Norrbom and Jørgen Vinding lead an 11-strong team of experienced labour and employment lawyers and dedicated support staff.
They establish Norrbom Vinding – the first law firm in Denmark dedicated exclusively to labour and employment law.
We have gone from strength to strength ever since. Staff has increased by about 400% and turnover by about 600%.
Labour and employment law has also changed. Today, this area of the law is much more complex. Deep knowledge about collective bargaining processes, individual employment law and EU law is the foundation. But HR law also requires expertise in tax, social security, business immigration, data protection, health and safety, IPR, special discrimination, incentives, pensions, CSR and much, much more.
Today, Norrbom Vinding covers all areas where employers may need legal advice in relation to employees and their organisations. And our expert lawyers cover all aspects of our speciality, including, of course, the classic elements.
Our labour and employment law expertise is based on more than 25 years’ experience at expert level – we have been there every step of the way and are still at the forefront of new developments in this field.
